RALEIGH
SHAG CLUB EMERGENCY MEETING
MINUTES – 7-28-24
The meeting was called to order by President Karen Brown at
6:05.
President Brown announced the purpose of the meeting was to decide the
future of the
RSC. The Sgt. At Arms, Brenda Greenburg and Treasurer, Gary Kramling, had
submitted their resignations effective 7-15-24. Karen planned to resign as President & VP Patti Battle
declined to step up to the office of President due to medical reasons. The question to be considered under New Business was where do we go from
here?
Treasurer’s report - Given by Margaret Griffin as prior Treasurer had
given her the financial records. She reported bank balance as of
7-15-24 was $2,316.319 but that was not the actual balance due to outstanding bills & checks written. We owe
Ronn Knott for his payment to Constant Contact, SOS cards close out (pass through money). Margaret estimated the final balance would be around $1,800.
Membership – 52 with 23 active members present.
New Business – There was a great deal of discussion of the pros & cons
of continuing
vs. dissolution of the Raleigh Shag Club. It was pointed out that in order to continue we would need a new slate of
officers along with active participation by members and a new venue. Discussion also included possible reasons for the decline in attendance and
participation. Marlin Eshleman made a motion that the RSC be
dissolved as of 7-28-24.
Motion seconded. Vote passed by a majority.
RSC By-Laws – Article XI – DISSOLUTION – states the club may be dissolved
by two-thirds (2/3) vote of members present at the meeting. It also
states that assets shall be disposed of in accordance with law and upon direction by the
membership.
Jim Riley made a motion to donate what was left in our checking account
after all bills were paid, to Hospice or Transitions LifeCare.
Motion seconded and approved by a majority.
Joni Hall reminded us that we had supplies in the closet. Liz Ross & Margaret Griffin will work on cleaning those
out. Jim & Kathy Riley will handle cleaning out any
decorations still in their garage.
A final check will be sent to SOS along with unsold cards by Margaret
Griffin.
Copy of these minutes will be sent to the President of ACSC along with a
request for information on any action we need to take with ACSC.
Various people encouraged everyone to stay active in the shag community
and consider
joining one
of the other clubs in our area such as Capital Area,Bass Lake or
others.
Joni Hall was given a round of applause & thanked for allowing us to
meet there for so many years.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:00.
